Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts Junior Engineer (JE) exam every year. The candidates need to possess Degree or Diploma in Civil or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an institution recognized by Govt. of India or equivalent qualification in order to apply for these SSC JE posts.

There is no interview for these posts.
Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions only. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in JE Paper –I will be called for Paper-II (Conventional Type).
Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam
Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

One by one every SSC region will release hall tickets for JE exam.
Staff Selection Commission will hold an open competitive examination for recruitment of Junior Engineers, Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts in the Pay Band of Rs.9300-34800/- plus Grade Pay Rs.4200/-.

Staff Selection Commission will organize a All India Open Examination for JE posts to be filled in Central Public Works Department (CPWD) & Department of Posts, Military Engineering Service (MES), Central Water Commission (CWC) and Farakka Barrage, Border Roads Organization (BRO) in Ministry of Defence.
Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I. Candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil and Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates appearing for the post of JE (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of JE (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper-II failing which his/her answer sheet will not be evaluated.
