Below is the exam pattern of NMRC Exams:

1. Station Controller/ Train Operator (SC/TO) and Customer Relation Assistant (CRA), JE (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical), Office Assistant & Accounts Assistant Posts:

There will be two papers and total duration of both papers is 2 hours. Paper-I will be of 90 minutes and Paper-II will be for 30 minutes.
Paper-I will be objective type multiple choice paper consisting of total 90 questions from General awareness, logical ability and Quantitative aptitude and knowledge of Discipline/Trade.
Paper-II: total 30 questions from General English only.

2. Maintainer (Fitter, RAC, Electrician, Electronic and Mechanic):
There will be only one paper for these posts and then skill test / trade test is to be conducted.
Time allowed: 90 minutes.
Total no. of questions: 90 questions (questions from General Awareness, logical ability and Quantitative aptitude and knowledge of Discipline/trade).

There will be negative marking for each wrong answer in papers. 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Also candidates have to qualify paper 2 (General English) to be evaluated for paper 1.

NMRC General English Syllabus : This section will have Reading Comprehension, spelling error, fill in the blanks, common errors, One word substitution, Sentence shuffling, Error detection and correction, Synonyms. Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Sentence Completion.
