Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Intelligence Bureau (IB) conducts Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) Grade II Executive exam usually every year for recruitment. This time there are 995 posts that are advertised for which online form can be filled up to 15 December 2023.

The Selection of the candidates in this drive is done through two tier written test and personal Interview. Those candidates who want to make their career in this field appear for this examination. Selection Process:

Candidate will be selected on the combined performance of Tier 1 and 2 Written Exam & Interview. Those who qualify Tier 1 objective test, 10 times the vacancies, will be called to appear for Tier 2 descriptive test. 5 times the vacancies, candidates will be called for tier 2 descriptive test.

Personal Interview of 100 marks will be held for those candidates who qualify in both written examinations. Then those who are able to clear interview, will be selected subject to successful completion of Character & Antecedent verification followed by medical examination etc.

IB ACIO Exam Pattern

Tier 1:

The objective test consists of 100 objective questions carrying 1 mark each. So total marks for objective test is 100. The test consists of 5 sections each having 20 questions of one mark each.

IB ACIO Syllabus 2024 of Tier 1 Exam

Written test is conducted at various centers all over country. Here is the detailed syllabus of MHA IB ACIO exam 2024 for both objective test (Online) and descriptive test.

1. English:

Questions are asked to check candidate's basic understanding over the English language will be judged. Questions comes from Synonyms and Antonyms, Error detection, Phrase substitution, Paragraph completion, Ordering sentences, Double blanks in a sentence. Fill in the blanks, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Sentence / Passage Reconstruction, Commonly misspelled words, Verbs, Narration, Adjectives, Voices, Comprehensions, Clauses, Preposition, Word meanings, Passages, Cloze Test etc..

2. Current Affairs:

Questions on Current Events of national and international importance, Science, Business, Sports, Research, Politics, Banking, Economy, Organizations etc. will be asked.

3. Reasoning / Logical Aptitude:

Puzzle, Syllogism, Coding and decoding, Input and Output, Similarities and Differences, Space Visualization, Discriminating Observation, Blood Relations, Seating arrangement, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Calendar and Clocks, Relationship Concepts, Sitting arrangement, Decision Making, Statement and conclusion, Orders and Rankings, Visual Memory, Series, Image analysis, Figure Classification, Inequalities, pattern completion etc

4. Numerical Aptitude:

Number Systems, Fundamental Arithmetic's, LCM, HCF, Direction Sense test, Decimals and Fractions, Calender, Partnerships, Whole Numbers, Percentages, Averages, Ratio and Proportion, Simple & Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Mixtures and Alligation, Discount, Ratio and Time, Mensuration, area, Time and Distance, Time and work, Permutation and Combination, Use of Tables and Graphs, Probability, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency Etc.

5. General Studies:

Indian and World Geography, Indian Constitution, History, Polity. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change, Science & Tech., Economics and Finance, Books and Authors, Awards, Important dates, Countries and Capital of Countries, personalities, Govt Schemes, Full forms, Headquarters of organizations etc.

IB ACIO Syllabus 2024 of Tier 2

Question in this descriptive paper, is asked to test candidate's English writing skills and analytical capability.
a) Essay on one of the given topics (30 marks): Candidate will be asked to write an Essay on one of the given topics (30 marks). They have to write in specified no. of words on any of the 3 given topics.
b) English comprehension & précis writing (20 marks).
